ABOUT THE RETREAT

Alicia hates camping but Darci loves it.  So they’ve taken the nature and nixed sleeping on the ground for this luxuriously rustic experience.  Think yoga with peeks of the ocean, hand prepared gourmet meals, laidback conversations down by the ocean that linger well into the night (or early nights-your call!) and your own room with a king sized bed.  We have a few special surprises during the weekend that you won’t find out about until you arrive!

WHAT MAKES A RETREAT WITH ALICIA AND DARCI SO DIFFERENT?

Being recovering please pleasers, Darci and Alicia wholeheartedly believe in saying yes to what lights you up and declining what feels like a task – especially when on vacation!  We like to leave space for people to retreat in their own way: going on a hike, sleeping through a yoga class, taking a soak in a deep tub, having a few drinks and dancing on tables, or a combination of the above. We provide a little structure, you choose what’s the best option for you (not for anyone else).

DO YOU HAVE A PAYMENT PLAN?
Although you can pay for the weekend all at once, you can put $395 down (your non-refundable deposit) and take between the time of booking until September 17th 2018 to settle up the remaining amount.  Your payments will be on your schedule and whatever amount works for you. Full payment for the retreat is due by 5:30 pm on September 17th 2018.

 

WHAT’S YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

If, for ANY reason, you can’t retreat with us, you get back the money you paid, minus a $395 CAD non-refundable portion up to 60 days before the retreat.

It doesn’t matter why you need to cancel. We don’t hassle you for reasons. We completely support your decision, whatever it is — it’s cool with us. We’ll refund your payments, minus the 395 bucks and you’ll be on your way. You can take advantage of our headache-free guarantee anytime between now and September 17th 2018 (60 days before the retreat begins) and your money will be refunded in the same way you paid, no strings attached. After that time, if you can’t make it for ANY reason we’ll bend over backwards to help you fill your spot.  Your spot is fully-transferable so you can sell it to someone you know, like you would a concert ticket — even pay it forward and make someone’s whole year!

When going on a retreat three things become really important: the food, the location, and the people (not just the teachers — Alicia and Darci have an uncanny ability to bring together great people). We encourage you to go where you’ve always wanted to go, or just love going back to, and to go with people you like — no matter the distance or the cost.

WHAT WILL THE FOOD BE LIKE?
Alicia and Darci have sought out two chefs who appeal to even the most vegetarian-apprehensive eaters.  But don’t just take our word on it:

FOOD IS IMPORTANT – THERE WILL BE 2 OPTIONS FOR THE WEEKEND:

THE CHEF MENU:
vegetarian, hearty, incredibly tasty snacks and meals.

THE EVERYDAY MENU:
Vegan, gluten free and grain free hearty, incredibly tasty snacks and meals.

SAMPLE MENU:
Subject to change because our chefs love to work with the freshest produce and what’s in season:

BREAKFAST:
Baked fruit oatmeal (gf oats), fruit, yogurt, toast, scrambled eggs, cheese, nuts

LUNCH:
Potato purée soup with highstacks veggie sandwiches.
*salad is available as sandwich alternate.

DINNER:
Cacio pepe pasta and wild greens salad
*zuchinni noodles with red sauce available for grain/gluten allergy

DESSERT:
Dried fruits and dark chocolates, variety of nuts.

DO I NEED TO BE GOOD AT YOGA?

No. And please don’t be. It’s annoying. But for real, being “good” at yoga is an interesting topic, and has to do with much more than what meets the eye. An ‘advanced’ practice isn’t a 2 minute handstand.  It’s the ability to practice regularly, safely, and conscientiously. An advanced practice is also how you carry yourself in the world — it’s engaging fully with your life (the highs and the lows). Like we said, being good at yoga is much more than meets the eye.

 

WHAT KIND OF YOGA WILL YOU BE TEACHING?

A little slower, lower to the ground classes with the option to do some work if that’s your thing.  For those who come to Moksha Yoga Westshore, think Sweat and Stretch but a little less sweaty. The weekend is structured in such a way that you don’t have to participate in all the activities.  You could instead go for a walk, or take a bath, or read a book or just be hung over.

 

WILL THE YOGA CLASSES BE SWEATY?
Well, that depends.  The yoga classes are going to take place in The Lodge overlooking Terrace Beach.  There’s a fireplace so the room will be warm in spots and more room temperature in spots.  Bring layers!

 

WHAT’S THE AGE RANGE OF GUESTS?

Mostly 20’s-60’s. It’s a large range, and we have yet to have anyone under 20, or over 70. Just like choosing whether to go on a hike or to have a long bath, Darci and Alicia encourage everyone to step outside of your comfort zone.

 

IS IT ONLY WOMEN?

We prefer to have a good balance of both men and women.  Darci and Alicia are both really proud that a lot of men come to classes at Moksha Yoga Westshore.  While the number of men attending retreats has increased, women have tended to be the majority of guests in the past.

 

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
Yoga mat, a mat towel (not required, but definitely a good thing if you like practicing with a towel)
Journal or book if you wish
Clothing for 3 yoga classes (don’t forget you might get sweaty-ish)
Warm clothing to get cozy in
Rain gear and boots if you know you want to explore regardless of the weather
Any foods that you can’t live without (all meals will be provided for you, but sometimes it’s nice to have something for the late night munchies. Oh, and you’ll have access to a fridge).

WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?

The price includes all of your incredible gourmet food from lunch on Friday through until breakfast on Sunday, your cozy log cabin/ room, gratuities, a few surprises from Darci and Alicia, all your classes, bedding/pillows, towels, and an entire weekend to be taken care of.

 

WHAT’S THE SCHEDULE LIKE FOR THE WEEKEND?
You’ll arrive around 1:30 pm on Friday and when you get in you’ll see Darci and Alicia at The Lodge at Terrace Beach.  We’ll all sit down for lunch and kick off the weekend together. There’ll be yoga classes, and loads of space throughout the days to do whatever you want.  In fact, everything is optional. But if the thought of not having an activity scheduled is freaking you out, don’t worry — Darci and Alicia will give you lots of ideas.  We purposefully give plenty of time for meals to enjoy your food instead of the usual standing-over-the-kitchen-sink dash. On Sunday, we’ll have a leisurely morning with check out at 11 am.  From lunch time on Friday to just after breakfast on Sunday, let Alicia and Darci take care of you.

 

WILL I BE ABLE TO CHECK FACEBOOK?

Yes!  The Lodge and The Cabins at Terrace Beach have wifi!  But this might just be your weekend to unplug from it all.

 

WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED?
Any alcohol you’d like to enjoy over the weekend.  There’ll be the option to purchase by the glass at The Lodge (bring your credit card, cash, or make sure we have your credit card on file).
Transportation to and from The Lodge and The Cabins at Terrace Beach, Ucluelet.
